Support Elizabeth Gaskell's House with a donation

Through fundraising activity and a Heritage Lottery Fund Grant, Elizabeth Gaskell's Manchester home has been beautifully and sympathetically restored by the Manchester Historic Buildings Trust, following years of neglect, and with the support of a dedicated team of volunteers. With the help of these and many more volunteers the house is open to the public three days a week and is open to private groups on other days. The house is also used by the community and for regular events.

In order for our unique historic house to remain open to the public we rely on the support of our enthusiastic volunteers, on donations from members of the public and the Friends of 84 Plymouth Grove group. Long term we aspire to re-creating Elizabeth Gaskell's bedroom and would also like to re-build the conservatory which was an important part of the garden when Elizabeth lived at the house.

We welcome donations of any size to help us to continue to develop and restore this beautifully house, particularly as we come to the final stages of our Heritage Lottery funding.

You can make a donation via the website charity.wonderful.org which takes no commission for the service. (please note that the charity is registered as Manchester Historic Buildings Trust)

We thank you for all your support.
