Elizabeth Gaskell's 'bustling life' filled 55 years of hectic energy as she combined the demands of a busy domestic life with those of a writer, achieving an international reputation that continues to this day.

In this latest exhibition you'll learn more about Elizabeth as a wife, mother and author within the family home she lived in from 1850-1865.

The exhibiton is included in your admission price.

Sunday, August 13, 2017 - 11:00 to 16:00

Book donations welcome.

Elizabeth Gaskell’s House is throwing open its doors this summer to the world of the Victorian children at play. Every Wednesday in the summer holidays, a range of activities will take visitors back in time to when the Gaskell’s daughters would have played in the House.

Meet Mrs Gaskell and her housekeeper for an interactive visit to Elizabeth Gaskell’s House on Wednesday 16 August.
